Acute Calculous Cholecystitis . The second sentence in the Strategies and Evidence section, under Diagnosis (page 2805), should have read, "The pain is characteristically episodic, severe, and located in the epigastrium or right upper quadrant." In the same section, under Treatment (which begins on page 2806), the final word of the paragraph beginning "There were no deaths reported" (page 2807) should have been cholecystostomy (rather than cholecystectomy). We regret the errors. The article has been corrected at the Journal's Web site at www.nejm.org.
