To the Editor: After the publication of the results of the Veterans Affairs/National Institutes of Health (VA/NIH) Acute Renal Failure Trial Network (ATN) study by Palevsky et al. (July 3 issue),¹ we received more than 80 calls asking whether current practice for renal-replacement therapy in patients with acute kidney injury should be changed and the dose delivery reduced. We recommended that dose delivery not be reduced and that current practice not be changed.^2,3 Several points make the ATN trial applicable only to patients with specific conditions and prevent the results from being definitive.
